🕯️ 38 Years of Silence: Who Killed Dana Bailey?

💔 She Should Be in Her 60s Right Now

Dana Bailey was 21 years old when her life was brutally, cruelly stolen.

It was March 4, 1987, in State College, Pennsylvania. Dana a senior at Penn State, beloved daughter, fiancée, and friend was found stabbed to death in her off-campus apartment at 318 South Allen Street. A young woman on the edge of graduation and possibility, gone in an act of unimaginable violence.

Today, Dana would be in her 60s. Maybe she’d be someone’s mother. Someone’s wife. Someone's anchor. But she never got the chance. And someone out there made damn sure of it.

🕵️‍♀️ Someone Knows. And Someone Saw.

It’s been 38 years.
No arrest.
No justice.
No closure.

But let’s make one thing clear: This wasn’t random.
Dana was almost certainly stalked. For days. Weeks. Maybe even longer. Investigators believe the killer may have entered through a second-story window using a ladder from a nearby construction site. That’s not impulsive. That’s calculated. That’s premeditated murder.

📸 The Roommate Controversy: What Were They Thinking?

One of the most baffling and frankly infuriating elements of this case is the State College Police Department’s decision to publish a photo of Dana’s roommate in the local newspaper.

A traumatized young woman, whose roommate had just been slaughtered in their shared home, was now splashed across the front page without her consent, and without being named a suspect.

Why?
What purpose did it serve?
Was it a veiled warning? Or intimidation?

No one’s ever given a satisfactory answer. And in a case already riddled with silence and shadows, this one glares like a spotlight.

👀 The Vanishing DA: Ray Gricar

If this case didn’t already feel like a plot twist waiting to be unraveled, add this:
Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar, who served from 1985 to 2005 disappeared.

Vanished. Gone without a trace. No body. No answers.

Was he quietly working Dana's case? Did he discover something he wasn’t supposed to? Did he get too close to the truth?

We may never know. But Gricar’s disappearance casts a long, strange shadow over Dana's already haunted case file.

🏙️ State College in the 1980s: A Powder Keg

The 1980s in State College were wild. When students returned to town, the population doubled.

With the influx came drugs, over-packed apartments, and rising crime. The infrastructure couldn’t keep up. Policing was underfunded. Campus safety was reactive at best. It was a town trying to grow up but unable to protect its own.

And Dana Bailey paid the ultimate price.

🧩 So Many Theories… But No Justice

There are whispers.
There are suspects.
There are possibilities.

  • A stalker who followed her home.
  • A man obsessed possibly known to Dana or her roommate.
  • A worker from the construction site who tracked her movements.
  • A suspect linked to other unsolved cases in the region.

But no theory has ever been enough to bring someone to trial. The silence remains.

📣 This Is Your Wake-Up Call

Someone knows something.
Someone saw something.
And someone has stayed quiet for 38 years.

This case is still open. And there's no statute of limitations on murder. If you're out there and holding onto a secret this is your sign. Come forward. Speak up.

Dana’s family and friends deserve peace.
Dana deserves justice.

🕯️ Are There Any Memorials?

Dana is remembered at her gravesite in Philipsburg, PA. But on campus? There’s no memorial. No scholarship. No plaque. Just the memory of her life and the fury of what was taken.
