Who Killed Dr. David S. Bailey? The Lingering Mystery in North Huntingdon, PA
On the morning of November 29, 2019, a scene of unimaginable horror unfolded inside Bailey Family Chiropractic on Parkway Drive in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Dr. David S. Bailey a respected 54-year-old chiropractor, husband, and father of three was found dead in his office, just before the business was set to open for the day. His death was quickly ruled a homicide. And yet, here we are, nearly six years later, still with no arrest, no named suspect, and precious few details released to the public.
Dr. Bailey’s murder has become one of Westmoreland County’s most troubling unsolved cases. It’s a wound that refuses to heal for his family, his friends, his patients, and frankly, for anyone who believes killers shouldn’t get away with murder.
A Man Beloved by His Community
“People say he’s the best chiropractor,” many patients recall, often describing him as “generous and selfless,” a “brilliant and honest man” who “always put the needs of others before himself.” He had no apparent enemies.
So how does a man so universally liked end up murdered in his own office?
The Silence from Police: What Aren’t They Telling Us?
Authorities ruled Dr. Bailey’s death a homicide. But beyond that, they’ve kept details tightly under wraps. They have never revealed:
- Was there forced entry or signs of burglary?
- What kind of defensive wounds did he have, and where?
- Were there any witness accounts of suspicious figures near the office that morning?
- Was Dr. Bailey having an affair?
- Why exactly was he targeted?
Police have repeatedly stated this was not a random act of violence. Which begs the question: How do they KNOW that?!?!!
If it wasn’t random, then someone wanted Dr. Bailey dead. But why?
Financial Trouble Looms Large
One potential motive can’t be ignored: Dr. Bailey’s finances were in deep trouble before his murder.
- He owed $325,000 in employment taxes as of 2018.
- The IRS had been on his back for over a decade.
- He faced an IRS lien for nearly $20,000 in income taxes.
- M&T Bank filed a foreclosure on his business property in mid-2019.
- Most shockingly, Dr. Bailey failed to appear for a federal court hearing on November 21, 2019 just eight days before his death where prosecutors were trying to hold him in contempt and shut down his practice.
It’s entirely plausible that these severe financial issues were not widely known or discussed within his immediate community, allowing him to maintain a public façade of stability and generosity.
Yet a possible motive for his murder might have been entirely unrelated to his public persona, potentially stemming from these hidden financial pressures or other private matters kept concealed from patients and casual acquaintances.
So we have to ask:
- Could financial stress or federal pressure be a motive?
- With Dr. Bailey’s severe financial difficulties, did he borrow money from the wrong person and couldn’t repay?
- Why did Dr. Bailey never make it to federal court?
Dark Rumors and Unanswered Questions
Here’s where things get even more unsettling:
➤ Rumors have swirled around Dr. Bailey’s death from the very beginning. I remember not only hearing but actually reading that Dr. Bailey was nearly beheaded. Was that true? Was his murder extraordinarily violent? Or is this just rumor filling the void left by silence from authorities?
We don’t know. Because the police won’t tell us.
An Investigation at a Standstill
Law enforcement insists the investigation remains active. They’ve put up billboards along Route 30, offered a reward (rumored to be up to $50,000), and claim detectives are still working the case.
But there’s been no public progress. No arrests. No suspect named. No press conference revealing new evidence.
This lack of public leads presents a significant challenge. It suggests several possibilities:
- The perpetrator may not be known locally.
- They may have left minimal, if any, evidence.
- Or people who do know something might be too afraid or too loyal to speak up.
I personally believe someone saw something, or knows something. Now is the time to come forward.
The Broader Context: Trust and Accountability
Let’s also not forget that the North Huntingdon Police Department has faced several notable controversies and lawsuits in recent years. Is that affecting how people perceive this investigation or whether they’re willing to share what they know?
The Family’s Endless Nightmare
For Dr. Bailey’s wife, Cheryl, and their three sons, the time since November 2019 has been described as a “nightmare.” They remain eager for answers and continue to actively seek closure regarding his death.
Meanwhile, a community remembers Dr. Bailey as the man who “always put others before himself.” They’re left asking: Why did this happen? And who did it?
Is It Time for More Transparency?
Maybe it’s time for authorities to reveal more details about Dr. Bailey’s homicide. The community deserves to know what they’re dealing with and Dr. Bailey’s family deserves justice.

My husband and I were just talking about this last week. We thought the news said his wife was having an affair.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! As far as public records show, there’s no evidence or official statement saying Dr. Bailey’s wife was having an affair. That seems to be just rumor. Police haven’t named her as a suspect.
DeleteDr Bailey’s wife sent me and other clients an announcement about her husband’s homicide, although there was no extra information about it. I felt that was very gracious . I was his patient as well as his father’s.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for sharing that. It was really thoughtful of Dr. Bailey’s wife to let patients know, especially with everything she was going through. It shows how much they cared about the people in their practice.
